Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data Verify News collects, how we use it, and the controls you have over your information. Please read it carefully.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us when you create an account, including your name, email address, and authentication credentials. We also collect information about how you use Verify News, including the stories you read, topics you follow, and preferences you set. This usage data helps us personalise your experience and improve our credibility scoring algorithms.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide, maintain, and improve Verify News; to personalise your news feed based on your stated preferences; to generate your reading history and dashboard insights; to communicate with you about updates, security alerts, and support; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Credibility Scoring & News Data

Verify News aggregates publicly available news content from major global sources via licensed third-party APIs. Credibility scores are computed algorithmically based on source tier, cross-reference count, and editorial signals. These scores are informational and do not constitute editorial endorsement. We do not store full article text — only metadata required to display and score stories.

4. Data Sharing

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances: with service providers who assist us in operating the platform (subject to confidentiality obligations); when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process; or with your explicit consent. If you use Team Workspace features, workspace members can see stories you share and notes you add within that workspace.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Reading history and bookmarks are retained for up to 12 months by default. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings page. Anonymised, aggregated usage statistics may be retained indefinitely for product improvement purposes.

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, hashed credentials, and access controls. Authentication is handled via OAuth 2.0. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to maintain your authenticated session. This cookie is essential for the service to function and cannot be opted out of while using Verify News. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to processing; and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice on the platform or by email. Continued use of Verify News after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Contact
